BeagleBone

The Beagles are tiny open-hardware (you could make one yourself), open-software computers that plug into whatever you have around the house. Beagles mean big functionality in small packages because these little PCs can be used for all kinds of applications you've been tinkering with... and can handle many of the same tasks as your desktop PC. The Beagle family is happiest when helping students to learn programming, hobbyists to push the bounderies of DIY and developers move to production quickly without excess noise, expense or bulk.

BeagleBoard.org provides a forum for the owners and developers of open-source software and hardware to exchange ideas, knowledge and experience. The BeagleBoard.org community collaborates on the development of open source physical computing solutions including robotics, personal manufacturing tools like 3D printers and laser cutters, and other types of industrial and machine controls.

Projects

Inside-Outside Weather Station

Inside-Outside Weather Station is a great weekend IoT project, which uses the Seeed Studio BeagleBone Green to display Temperature Humidity inside and outside your home.

BeagleBone Blue Robotics Controller Kit

BeagleBone Blue is an all-in-one Linux-based computer for robotics, with wifi/bluetooth, IMU/barometer, power regulation and state-of-charge LEDs for a 2-cell LiPo, H-Bridges, and discrete connectors for 4 DC motors+encoders, 8 servo

Cup Bot - simple 3D printed platform

Here is a great weekend robotics project to undertake with a friend. You will need a 3D printer handy to 3D print the STL files. You can either use a Arduino Uno, Raspberry Pi or a Beaglebone with the appropriate motor driver.

Bluetooth Maze

Read our blog post that takes you through building the Bluetooth maze, with multiple top plates as you see in the picture above. The Beaglebone Black Wireless is the brain of the project and is used to run the servo mechanism, to move the maze plates.
